FARGO — Cass County is getting ready for the November general election. The county invited the public to watch on Wednesday, Oct. 21, as election officials tested the equipment that'll be used to count ballots on Election Day. The test involves running premarked ballots through voting machines and checking whether the results match the expected totals. Election officials say the test is an important step in verifying that votes will be counted accurately. "I want the public to know that we are completely open, honest, and that their elections are fair and accurate. And if we are hiding it all behind a closed door, how can we do that?" said Sarah Heinle, Cass County finance director. Early voting in Cass County begins next Tuesday, Oct. 27. Five locations will be open across the county. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. ]]>
